Beginning HEMA: German Longsword
 
This course will introduce students to HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) with learning the knightly art of the German Longsword. The first half of the course will focus largely on learning the fundamentals of medieval fencing: footwork, body mechanics, and controlling the sword. Through solo and paired drills, students will learn a variety of guard positions, attacks, defenses and basic fencing theory before moving on to more advanced techniques and concepts.
