Shibori is a Japanese based technique of knotting, stitching, tying, folding, and wrapping to create patterns and images in fabric. Indigo dye works harmoniously with shibori to show off these designs. Students will have the opportunity to create samples of various stitches and knots in cotton fabric and design a silk scarf based on these samples. Students will also learn how to build and maintain an indigo vat and to use it for dyeing their fabrics.

Note: Students should pay instructor $10 for materials.
